Indictment confirmed in Radinko Stevanović case

On 10 January 2025 the Court confirmed an Indictment in the case of Radinko Stevanović (S1 1 K 050699 24 Kro), charging the accused Radinko Stevanović with the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity under Article 172(1)a), as read with Articles 29 and 180(1) of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The accused is charged that, during the armed conflict between the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) and the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ARBiH), and the widespread and systematic attack by military, para-military and police forces of the so-called Serb Republic of BiH, subsequently Republika Srpska, targeting the Bosniak civilian population of the Zvornik municipality, which lasted from 8 April 1992 to at least late August 1992, knowing of the armed conflict and the widespread and systematic attack, and that his acts form a part thereof, in his capacity as a member of the 3rd Battalion of the VRS Zvornik Brigade, together with other persons, on 8 June 1992 and 9 June 1992 he took part in the killing of between 400 and 500 Bosniak civilians in Gera’s slaughterhouse in Karakaj, the civilians having previously been detained at the Culture Home in Pilica, from which they were taken in groups, escorted by the accused Radinko Stevanović and other persons, to Gera’s slaughterhouse, where they were killed.
